Edinburgh Roman Law Group Meetings
The Edinburgh Roman Law Group will host two meetings this spring.
The first of these has been re-scheduled after adverse weather caused its cancellation in December.
On 4 March Professor Dr. Filippo Ranieri (Professor of European Private Law and Modern European Legal History, Saarland University) will speak on 'An encounter with the common law at the University of Göttingen in the mid-eighteenth century: On the Commentatio iuris exotici historica de iure communi Angliae of Christian Hartmann Samuel Gatzert'. Lorimer Room, Old College, 5:30 pm. All welcome. (Poster)
On 1 April Dr. Jakub Urbanik (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law and Administration, Warsaw University) will speak on 'Marriage and Divorce: a Study in Legal Pluralism in Roman Egypt'. Lorimer Room, Old College, 5:30 pm. All welcome. (Poster)
It would be of great assistance if you would email Dr. Paul du Plessis or write or telephone him at the School of Law, Old College, South Bridge, Edinburgh, EH8 9YL, UK ((0)131 6509701), if you wish to join us afterwards for dinner 'aux frais des participants'.
